Fantastic-Imaginery Cities Workshop

During tihs workshop ‘Fantastic-Imaginery Cities’ we experimented with creating characters by taking inspiration from cities. Cities as monsters, Cities as living bodies, Cities as Letters-Fonts.
We designed a series of prints working with blocks of colours and line: doodling on buildings, making stamps and polystyrene prints.

1 Week Project - Term 2

“Working from a series of randomly selected questions, your group are asked to
conduct extensive research into the field of graphic design to gather a range of
reference material you will use to ‘teach’ another group about one aspect of
graphic design practice.”

I worked with David, Jonathan, Cessilia and Arianna. Each group selected a question randomly. What is the value of Graphic Design Practice? This question was the question we drew. The point of the project was to 'teach' the other groups about the aspect of graphic design practice and not to answer the question. We had to exhibit and present our findings three days later on a desk-space within the studio.
Our idea was to take some pictures and remove all the graphic design elements. So, for each picture we printed out 3 pictures. One with the original picture,  secondly with the designs taken away and the last picture was a layer with the areas that we removed the gr. design elements, the stamps.

The presentation worked very well. Each member of the group talked about 3 minutes and then we had a period of time with Q&A. In my opinion this was the most interesting part of the presentation because new ideas and thoughts generated through discussion.
